Thanks to Mats, SM4GDB/4U, and Hakan, SM2HLS/4U, (two Swedish Army
communicators) who I served with during an United
Nations tour in the Sinai desert, I became interested enough in Amateur
Radio to write my exams. Calls I have held are, VE3KGB, VE1KGB, VE3KHP, and now
VA3KGB. I have also worked at Canadian Amateur and CFARS stations providing
phone patches for Canadians serving with the United Nations in Egypt, Syria, Israel, and Cyprus.
My main area of interest is HF Dxing on 15 and 20 metres,
(21 and 14 MHz). Other areas of interest include propagation, and antennae.
Visit the Amateur Radio links to other sites to explore our fascinating and
world-wide hobby. I maintain the Kingston ARC's web page at www.ve3kbr.com
Canadian Calls Manager:
I've written a program that allows you to use the downloadable Industry Canada
Amateur Radio database and add extra information to the calls. This information
is saved when you update your database from Industry Canada. I haven't done any
upgrade work on this program, however, I hope to do that shortly. Click
here for more information.
RACAL 6778C Remote Control Program
My latest programming effort is with a program to emulate the Racal RA-6778C LF/HF
receiver and to control the receiver through software. I started the program
using Visual Basic 6 and had the rough graphical user interface completed and
was starting the work on controlling the receiver when i took a break from
programming. When I returned to the program I decided that I would use
RealSoft's RealBasic as it would create a single executable file, doesn't
require an installer program, and if I upgrade the program I could create
cross-platform versions for Linux and Mac OS. The graphical user interface
is almost complete and when it is, I'll post the program here. It can then be
used as a simulator for operating the receiver. The next stage is to write
the receiver control code and add the enhancements to the program
